Folk trio Sevenoaks

Sevenoaks - Devon Demo

Sevenoaks are a folk trio based in the Plymouth area. Here, they audition one of the songs in their repertoire, a traditional Cornish song called Sweet Nightingale.

Q: Who are Sevenoaks and where are you based?

A: Sevenoaks are Charlie Snooks (22), Mark Potts (34) and David Jordan (55). Charlie and David are based in the Saltash area, and Mark is from Plymouth.

Q: Who does what?
A: Charlie does the vocals, David plays double bass and guitar, and Mark plays guitar and bouzouki. We've been playing as a trio for about a year (as at May 2007).

Q: Which three words best describe your music?
A: Folk, acoustic, refreshing.

Q: What song are you auditioning?
A: It's called Sweet Nightingale - it's a traditional Cornish folk song, very beautiful.

Q: What has been your most memorable gig?
A: Playing at the Eden Project in March 2007 - a fantastic setting and a great audience.

Q: What do you think of the current music scene?
A: There are lots of singer-songwriters and folk music is becoming more popular.

Q: Whose records do you have in your collection?
A: Seth Lakeman, Cara Dillon, Eliza McCarthy.
