Who's On Air?You are in: Devon > Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Devon > Who's On Air? > Duncan Warren Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Devon's Duncan Warren Duncan WarrenWeekdays 7pm - 10pm Duncan was somewhat flattered when he was referred to as the 'new boy' on the station. By his own admission; "this new boy has been around the block a few times." Duncan Warren began his broadcasting career in hospital radio during the seventies, and was one of the original team at our sister station, Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Cornwall when it first came on-air in 1982. Duncan also presented 'Goldmine' on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Devon, which featured music and guests from the 1950's, 60's and 70's, including the likes of Joe Brown, Ronnie Hilton, Frank Ifield and Sir Paul McCartney. During his nine years with the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ he was honoured with three government sponsored production awards for programmes on road safety, and was part of the Sony winning team for 'A Day at Twickenham', which covered the final of Cornwall's success in the rugby County Championship final in 1992. In the early nineties he moved from the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ for a number of commercial undertakings, including the Celtic Film & Television Festival at Aberystwyth in 2000, where he was presented with a certificate of excellence for his programme 'Kan Rag Kernow' - A Song For Cornwall; a Celtic Nations version of the Eurovision Song Contest. What's in Joy's tupperware box tonight? A good sportIn 2004, having decided to take a break after almost 30 years of broadcasting to the South West, he was contacted by Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Cornwall as a temporary host on their Saturday afternoon sports programme, reflecting his love of both rugby and soccer (Duncan is currently the President of the Plymouth Argyle Cornish Supporters' Association). Then in July 2004, with Emma Lloyd involved with the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ television programme 'Restoration', Duncan stood in as presenter of the 'Evening Programme' for what was initially to be just 'a brief spell'. But subsequently with Emma deciding to undertake other projects within the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Duncan now finds himself very much at home each weekday evening from 7.00pm - 10.00pm on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Devon, taking your phone calls, talking to his guests and generally enjoying himself. last updated: 12/01/2009 at 12:48 You are in: Devon > Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Devon > Who's On Air? > Duncan Warren |
