The demon cursed beneath his breath and stepped back into the shadows thrown by one of the aged, stone-carved buildings of the Latin Quarter. If he wanted these two, he would have to wait.

The demon smiled. He had not thought of his sire in ages, since challenging him to a battle of dominance where he tore the flesh from the old demon's throat and ended his life.
