Character Guide
Lorne

LorneFriendly demon with the power to read minds and sing like an angel.

King of Karaoke and owner of demon-friendly bar Caritas, Lorne is an anagogic demon who can see into a person's aura - so long as they sing to him first. if Angel's rendition of Barry Manilowe's Mandy has put you off music for life, blame the host.

Hailing from the alternative dimension Pylea, where singing is unheard of, Lorne's full name is Krevlorneswath of the Deathwok clan. You can see why he picked Lorne for short.

Lorne can hold a note indefinitely and can use his voice as a weapon against some demons. His stunning wardrobe is probably just as lethal too. His race also has the uncanny ability to survive, even if seemingly vital parts of their anatomy are removed.

Now he's a permanent house guest of Angel Investigations - after all, they did destroy his bar twice! Warm and witty, he's the homely heart of the gang, always ready with a quip and a cocktail.

Always shy, Andy Hallett didn't start singing until Patti LaBelle invited him onstage at a concert. The Host is his first acting job, having been spotted by Joss Whedon whilst singing at a Blues revue. According to legend, Whedon conceived the character there and then. Hallett still had to go through the audition process several times before getting the job.

Andy was born in the tiny Cape Cod village of Osterville. Whilst looking like a permanent fixture of Angel for some time to come, he's been branching out into other acting projects, including Chance - an independent film directed by Buffy's Amber Benson.
