| | Burton Dassett Country Park is a real jewel in the south Warwickshire crown.
Quite a statement, considering that that area of the county is one of the most beautfiul in the country, but it's not mere hyperbole.
The site, high in the Dassett hills, is a former quarry, giving the site a strange, rolling quality featuring a series of peaks and troughs.

Even the way the grass grows seems different to that several feet below it on the flatlands - it's almost like a lunar landscape but green!
The hills are famous for many things but perhaps top of the list is kite flying.
There is a strong wind that whips around the hills and it's perfect for kites - so good, in fact, that many stunt fliers flock to the spot.
The country park itself, which is maintained by Warwickshire County Council, spans around 100 acres.
The hills provide amazing views of Warwickshire, overlooking Leamington, Warwick and down towards Banbury.
As well as taking a stroll over the famous hills, visitors can also trek through Fox Covert, which is a small wooded area.

Burton Dassett is also a brilliant place for a picnic and if you don't want to get down-and-dirty on the floor, picnic tables are dotted around the park!
From the top of the hills, either by the beacon or the viewpoint on Magpie Hill, you can see down in to the remains of the quarry - a stunning sight.
Warwickshire County Council runs a series of activities and events at Burton Dassett Country Park thoughout the year.
