Former Sky Blues defender David Busst has been leading the Wood End kids through a series of training sessions and they are now coming on in leaps and bounds.
Leading the way in dedication to the cause are pupils at Deedmore School, a primary school for children with special needs, while youngsters from Moat House Primary School, Annie Osbourne and St Patrick's RC have been joining in with gusto.

David Busst is probably best remembered as a hugely talented defender whose career was shattered when he suffered a horrific leg injury during a game with Manchester United.
His broken limb needed 17 operations which ended his career but Coventry City stuck by him and in return, he now works for the club's community department and helps train children around the area.

The New Deal for Communities - a regeneration project which is pumping Β£54 million into Wood End, Henley Green, Manor Farm and Deedmore - has teamed up with David and Coventry City to fund the after-school coaching.
As well as getting some excellent insights and tips on playing football from David and his coaching team of Mark Bowberman and Vicky Sprawson, 50 children from each school get the chance to go on a VIP tour of Highfield Road, the home ground of the Sku Blues.

David said the Deedmore children had already enjoyed their trip and they seemed to love every minute of it!
He said the children of Deedmore were "superb" and probably appreciated the coaching more than other children.
He said the children were "great fun and very lively but that doesn't give them problems, so long as it (the training) is directed."
The children at Deedmore on the day of the training session we attended certainly seemed to be enjoying it and also displayed some excellent soccer skills!
