The new Royal Shakespeare Company season is about to start with As You Like It on 20 March.

Joining the company in the new season will be esteemed actors Henry Goodman, Emma Fielding, Jasper Britton and Alexandra Gilbreath but Fiennes is set to be a huge draw, particularly as he is appearing in Adrian Noble's last production as artistic director.

Fiennes, star of The English Patient and Red Dragon, appears in Ibsen's Brand at the Swan Theatre as one of a stand-alone company performing the rarely-performed portrait of faith and the search for enlightenment, which is being staged for the very first time at the RSC.

Another highlight of the season is set to be provided by Gregory Doran's innovative pairing of The Taming of the Shrew with John Fletcher's The Tamer Tamed, which is seen by many as the "sequel" to Shakespeare's tale of male and female relationships.

Henry Goodman, back on stage after 15 years
Some guaranteed controversy is also on the menu with the return of associate director Bill Alexander who will be at the helm of Titus Andronicus - the bloody tragedy featuring war, murder, rape and cannibalism, which has not been performed by the company since 1987.

Following The Taming of the Shrew on the main stage in Stratford is Shakespeare's dark problem play, Measure for Measure, directed by Sean Holmes and starring the esteemed Emma Fielding.

One of Shakespeare's most famous villains, Richard III takes to the stage in July and it marks the return of Broadway star Henry Goodman, who has not appeared on the RSC stage for 15 years.

The play - seen as part four of the Henry VI trilogy, was last seen in Stratford during the Histories season in 2000, will see Goodman taking the title roll and will be directed by Michael Boyd.

Emma Fielding plays Imogen in Cymbeline
As well as Brand and The Tamer Tamed, the Swan will be home to the gorgeous gender-bending comedy of As You Like It, with Gregory Thompson making his directorial debut for the RSC.

Marking the end of the season in July will be Shakespeare's Cymbeline, which is making its debut in the Swan, and stars Emma Fielding as Imogen.
