Kaante (meaning thorns) is director Sanjay Gupta's most ambitious project to date. Inspired from the Hollywood flick Reservoir Dogs this lavishly shot film has been in the planning stages for the past two years.

Kaante will be the first film in the history of Bollywood to be shot mostly in Los Angeles under the supervision of Hollywood technicians.
The story revolves around six hardcore criminals who are have very different characters. Calling themselves the 'masters', all six meet up in prison where they decide to plan the perfect crime of the century - a Los Angeles bank robbery.

The members of the gang comprise of Major (Amitabh Bachchan) the leader and mastermind behind the whole plan.
The rest of the gang includes Ajju (Sanjay Dutt), Mak (Lucky Ali), The Bouncer (Sunil Shetty), Andy (Kumar Gaurav) and Baali (Mahesh Manjrekar).
Trust is their greatest challenge for their plan to work. So for them to succeed, they have put aside their differences in order to pull the whole thing off.

Soon their perfect plan is put into action on the D-Day when everything moves smoothly according to plan and the bank robbery is successful.
But the twist in the storyline comes when all six are confronted with a bloody ambush. They realise one of them is an undercover cop.
So the race begins to find the traitor, with guns pointed at each other.

Already labelled a 'macho man's film', Kaante does include female actresses in the form of Mallaika Arora and Isha Koppikar (from the film Company) who provides the cabaret numbers for the front benchers.
Technically the film is set against a monochromatic colour scheme to provide the Hollywood slick look.

The musical score by Anand Raj Anand is different in that the directors have experimented with the score that blends easily within theme of the film.
Slated for an early October release, Kaante will open in nine different languages across the globe with a major premiere in the UK.
