At Warwick Riding School you can do just that. Janet Martinez, who runs the sixty acre equestrian site at Guy’s Cliffe, also organises riding weekends and holidays set in the Warwickshire countryside.

Everyone had the chance to improve their riding
London based staff from the IT company, Logica, recently spent a team building weekend enjoying Warwickshire culture and a couple of days on horseback at Janet’s school.

14 people spent two days doing cross country, jumps and gymkhana games – in a weekend of weird weather.

One minute the sun shone down on the daffodils, the next, the sky was black and the rain horizontal in gale force winds. But the trotting and galloping didn’t stop.

Lady Godiva's horse, Drummer - had a different rider for the day

Claire Lang led the London group, and ran a horse riding club for her company.

"We’ve been to other riding clubs in Ireland and Wales, for example, and one of our team recommended Warwick.

We’ve been to see Warwick Castle, and enjoyed some of the local pubs, and have had a great time here at Janet’s school. We’ve all improved our riding and it’s also been a great team building exercise, even if we are all a bit saddle sore!"Ìý

Riding school covers sixty acres

Janet Martinez set up the riding school more than twenty years ago, and has worked hard to build it into an international equestrian centre, with more than 40 horses and a huge sixty acre site covering all aspects or riding.

Janet and her team of expert helpers
For riding weekends she enlists the help of local people to keep things running smoothly. Most have been taught to ride by Janet, and come back to muck in and help when she needs the support.

There’s Heidi, Rob, Liz, Kevin, Meena and Katie. The team work well together and everything runs smoothly.

As well as organising the horses and activities, a hot lunch was provided in one of the teaching cabins, with everyone taking a well earned rest before the afternoon games began.

Torrential rain didn’t stop play and, after prize rosettes were handed out for achievement and sheer entertainment on horseback, a weary but smiling group of London execs drove back to the City – climbing verrrry gingerly into their cars.
