On September 11 2001, the world stood still as the World Trade Centre's twin towers collapsed after one of the world's most horrific terrorist attacks.
The scenes that unfolded that day from New York were beyond any watcher's comprehension and as the full horror of what had happened at Ground Zero began to hit home, almost the whole world mourned.
On the anniversary of the attacks on the twin towers and the Pentagon, Coventry Cathedral - itself a theatre of war - will be holding a special service to help people around the area remember.
Last year the cathedral became a focus for people wanting to show their sympathy for the people of New York. Thousands signed the memorial book and left offerings.

The cathedral was particularly appropriate as a place for remembrance as it has a history of reconciliation.
The cathedral dean, the Very Reverend John Irvine believes the spirit of the cathedral is one of hope.

On the cathedral website he said:
"To walk from the ruins of the old Cathedral into the splendour of the new is to walk from the ravages of human self-destruction to the glorious hope of resurrection.
"Your heart is lifted, your spirit is renewed and you feel that there is hope for the world...reconciliation is possible."
There was a short service at 12.40pm on September 11 at the cathedral which was open to the public.
The time was been chosen to allow people to attend during their work lunch breaks.
The special service will be led by Mr Irvine and people will be given the opportunity to light a candle.
The cathedral also had an open book of condolence for the day.

There was also an act of remembrance on September 11 in Birmingham's Victoria Square.
Some young people read messages of hope during the service. These included Richard and Shanade, aged 12.
Richard is a pupil at Whitley Abbey School in Coventry. For the past year, Richard has been a member of the Binley Young Fire Fighters Association. He read a special poem that he wrote for the day.

It is fitting the service took place just ten days before the United Nations International Day of Peace on 21 September.
In 1981, the General Assembly declared 21 September the International Day of Peace, which should be dedicated to "strengthening the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples."

In 1998 the assembly changed the date of the International Day of Peace so that in 2001 it would be 11 September.
It seems likely this was why that date was chosen for the terrorist acts committed in New York.
The intention of peace day is to have a day of global cease-fire and non-violence - an invitation to all nations and people to cease hostilities for 24 hours.

On 21 September, the International Day of Peace, there was also be a praise and worship gospel concert at St Mary's Church, Market Square, Atherstone.
It was an evening of praise, worship and healing ministry using gospel music.
