ΜύMike Calvert
RASE chief executive Mike Calvert
The society is in the throws of public consultations and discussions with local MPs, to get the plans underway for a dream home for The Royal Show and its other events.

It is one of the most ambitious new projects of the 21st Century and will bring real changes to Stoneleigh Park.

Follow this link to read our interview with Mike Calvert, the society's chief executive, and read on to find out about the plans for the site.

The budget for the project is in excess of Β£100 million, pledged by Advantage West Midlands and other bodies.

We've taken a sneak peek at the plans to bring you the highlights of what we can expect to see and how it might affect local residents.

ΜύThe Eden Project

One of the key aspects of the plans is the Innovation Centre.

This has been compared to the Eden Project - in concept if not in design -as its aims are to put education and learning at its heart.

This will be the key new attraction for tourist and school visitors to Stoneleigh Park.

Mike Calvert said it will "demonstrate agriculture and the food chain ... through taste, smell, site, touch, music or art."

Local impact - land

RASE have emphasised the developments will happen on the Stoneleigh Park site and no additional land will be needed, despite local concerns.

The plans also aim to protect views into the site.

Local impact - traffic

There will, however, be a new access road built to connect Stoneleigh Park with the A46.

In the plans, existing access onto the B4113 would becomes controlled, not public, access.

This is being designed to avoid increases in traffic in the surrounding villages and smaller roads.

Local impact - jobs

There's good new on the jobs front, too, with the project bringing around 900 additional jobs in the new park along with an estimated 100 additional indirect jobs.
