The event will undoubtedly create a lot of interest and will bring some big crowds down to Fistral Beach in Newquay.

The Gul Night Surf is a one of a kind event being the only night-time surfing event in Europe. There will be entertainment and events throughout the weekend with live music, and Volleyball competitions. There will also be a spectacular firework show on the Saturday night over the surf.

This is the eighth annual Night Surfing event and each year it gets bigger, with more prize money and points available.Μύ In previous years the event has consisted of an open, womens, junior and longboard classes. This is the first time a stand up paddleboard division has been added.

Last year's event ended with Nick White from New Zealand clinching pole position. It was a truly international podium, with Reuben Pearce from South Africa taking second place, local lad and two times winner, Alan Stokes, taking third and Australian born but UK based, Matt Capel beating 150 other competitors to claim fourth place.

Dave Reed, contest director for the Fat Face Night Surf and tour said: "The surfing quality last year was amazing and the waves were great, allowing us to watch surfing at the highest level. We're hoping to have more of the same quality of surf and indeed surfing this year."
