Storms Batter Cornwall

Severe gale force winds pounded the Cornish coast line on March 10, in one of the winter's worst storms. 80mph winds brought down trees causing problems on the roads and 2,000 homes in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly were left without electricity.

A combination of high tides, extremely low pressure and strong winds caused several coastal communities to flood during one of the worst storms Cornwall has seen this winer.

Winds lashed the coasts of Cornwall and Coastguards warned people to stay away from exposed areas of coastline.

Roads had to be closed due to flooding because of the rising water from spring tides.

Trains were disrupted and Falmouth Coastguards had to co-ordinate their cliff rescue teams to advise people living in vulnerable areas of the risk to their property.
