Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Cornwall's popular afternoon programme is now presented by Donna Birrell. We thought you'd like to know more about Donna, so we asked her to spill the beans...

"I'm delighted to be presenting the Aftermoon Show on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Cornwall, following a stint in Tim Hubbard's chair at the weekends. I've been at the station since 2005 and am really enjoying going out and about interviewing people and getting to the heart of the community.

"I originally trained as an English and Drama teacher in London before joining the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ in 1989 where I worked on the One O'Clock and Six O'Clock News as a picture editor and journalist.

"I then moved to Newsnight as a Chief Picture Editor, travelling to among places, Pakistan for the elections and Belfast to cover the Orange Parade riots in the late '90s. It was great experience being right at the heart of major news stories. When News 24 began I moved across to work as a Senior Journalist on a rolling news channel.

"Working in television news can be very exciting and a lot of the time you are running on adrenalin especially when a big story is breaking and it is up to you to keep the channel output flowing, informative and accurate. I enjoyed my time there very much, but when the opportunity came to move to Cornwall in 2004 my husband and I jumped at the chance.

"I feel really privileged to be able to live and work, and bring up my son, in such a special environment. We love playing football on the beach at Porthtowan at weekends and taking advantage of the wonderful coastal walks. I'm also trying to learn how to play the piano, although I'm not very good at practicing."
