We had a cracking race at Fowey on Saturday, finishing in second place behind Falmouth with the Roseland ladies in third place.Μύ

The course always feels really long and this was compacted by it being so hot, not that we should complain, it's about time we had some good weather!Μύ We were really pleased with our result.Μύ

Fowey Gig Club's regatta forms part of the town's Regatta Week and there are plenty of aprΓ¨s rowing activities on offer.ΜύHaving a few beers and singing some Cornish songs in the Gallant takes some beating though.

After having a couple of days off to recover from a hard week's training (and so that we could enjoy the Bank Holiday weekend) we were back out on the water last night for a long session in the boat.Μύ

Long sessions can be a bit boring but we try to break them up by swapping sides halfway through. This session became particularly amusing as one of the girls had eaten garlic chicken for lunch and was rather potent to say the least, resulting in her being mocked by the rest of us throughout, plus Steve (our coxswain) was messing around and broke his seat in half and nearly ended up in the bottom of the boat.

We'll be out on the water again tomorrow when we'll be preparing for the penultimate event of the season, Roseland's regatta at St Mawes on Saturday.

I know Newquay must be close – the ridiculous dreams have started and it's nearly time for me to put the picture of us racing on my desk at work in the drawer as every time I look at it my stomach does a somersault.

We've all learnt to control our nerves over the years but something about Newquay still gets to me, I think it's the fact that anything can happen there.
