Complaint

A listener challenged the accuracy of a number of statements made by the Chief Executive of Worcester Bosch during an interview about heat pumps, and complained that given the subject matter the decision to interview the CEO of a company which primarily produces gas boilers was a breach of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ’s commitment to impartiality.

Outcome

On the questions of accuracy, which all related to the Government target to install 600,000 heat pumps a year in UK homes by 2028, the ECU found no evidence listeners were likely to have been misled, nor that the comments by Carl Arntzen departed significantly from other available evidence.

It also considered that whilst it might have been beneficial had listeners been given more information about the positive aspects of heat pumps, the interviewee was clearly expressing his own view on the future for the UK heating industry and hadΜύ acknowledged heat pumps had an important role to play in the transition to decarbonising the heating of UK homes.ΜύΜύ
