Complaint
This edition included a report on the findings of the Community Security Trust (CST) regarding incidents of antisemitism. Β A listener complained the programme should have been more questioning about the source of the figures and the definitions used by the CST to reach its conclusions. Β The ECU considered whether the programme met the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ’s requirements for due accuracy.
Outcome
The opening news bulletin and the introduction to the item itself made clear the nature and source of the statistics.  Listeners were told who had reported the rise in antisemitic incidents, and what the aims of the organisation were.  The figures were clearly attributed the CST and reflected what it said it had recorded and what it had concluded based on this.  In the ECU’s view the attribution of the figures was sufficient to ensure due accuracy.
