Complaint
A viewer complained that a report on the hearings in the US senate into the storming of Congress described the protest as a “violent insurrection†aimed at “overthrowing the legitimately elected government, spurred on by Trump’s call to violence†and that this was followed by an ※Á³Ü³Ù-´Ç´Ú-³¦´Ç²Ô³Ù±ð³æ³Ùâ€Â clip from President Trump promising to “fight like hellâ€. The ECU considered this complaint against the requirement for due accuracy set out in the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Editorial Guidelines.
Outcome
The report included an extract from a speech which President Trump gave to supporters on the day of the riots in which he said "We fight like hell. And if you don't fight like hell, you're not going to have a country anymore".  The ECU noted this statement has been taken by some observers to have led members of the crowd to storm Congress and formed an important part of the Senate committee’s investigations. It was therefore a relevant detail for a report whose purpose was to outline the terms of reference and aims of the investigation, on the day when hearings were due to commence.  The report did not include the other remarks ascribed to it by the complainant.
