Complaint
The bulletin included a report concerning the ruling by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) that Israel should halt its military offensive in Gaza which began: “Israel has reacted with fury to a ruling from the UN’s highest courtâ€. A viewer complained that this departed from impartiality because it framed the report from the perspective of the “guilty partyâ€, suggesting Israel was entitled to some kind of right of reply to the findings of an impartial court.
Outcome
The significant development in the ongoing story at that point was the reaction of the Israeli government. The ECU considered the report’s focus on that reaction implied nothing as to the impartiality or otherwise of the ICJ or Israel’s rights in the matter, and involved no departure from the Â鶹ԼÅÄ’s own standards of impartiality.
