Complaint

A listener complained that an item in this bulletin incorrectly said President Biden had been “c±ô±ð²¹°ù±ð»å†in connection with retention of official documents.  The ECU considered whether the complaint raised an issue of compliance with the Â鶹ԼÅÄ’s editorial standards of accuracy.

Outcome

The complete item (as the complainant had been informed in previous correspondence) was as follows: “President Biden has angrily rejected suggestions that he has a poor memory and is unfit for office. He was responding to a long-awaited inquiry which concluded he shouldn’t face charges for mishandling official documents but questioned his ability to remember several important events. Senior Republicans have seized on the report as evidence that Mr Biden shouldn’t seek re-electionâ€.  As it contained no reference to President Biden having been “c±ô±ð²¹°ù±ð»åâ€, the complaint raised no issue of accuracy.
