Complaint
A listener complained that the presenter had ambushed the Defence Secretary, Grant Shapps, by repeatedly asking him about recent remarks by the MP Lee Anderson in an interview which was ostensibly about the war in Ukraine on the second anniversary of its outbreak, resulting in anti-Government bias.Β The ECU considered the complaint in the light of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ’s editorial standards of impartiality.
Outcome
Though the interview was mainly about the war in Ukraine it also touched on other subjects. It was legitimate for the presenter to put remarks which had been widely reported in that morning’s media, and she did so in a manner which neither implied nor resulted in anti-Government bias.
