As a global network of expert organisations operating in over 50 countries, we provide aspiring young entrepreneurs with skills training, financial support and mentoring so they can thrive in business and beyond".
Youth Business International (YBI) would like to say a huge thank you to all Radio 4 listeners who so generously donated to our appeal and raised an amazing £3,403.75 Your donations will support underserved young people worldwide to set up thriving businesses.
Around the world, millions of young people are unemployed or stuck in low wage, low skilled work. For many of them, starting a business is the only way to find fulfilling work and lift themselves out of poverty. However, starting and running a thriving business is not easy, especially for a young person stepping out into the unknown.
Our appeal shared the story of 24-year-old Tahmina from Bangladesh. Growing up with financial hardship, Tahmina was looking for a way to support her family and lift them out of poverty. Her life changed when she met our partner organisation in Bangladesh. After enrolling in their entrepreneurship training, developing a business plan and perfecting her marketing pitch, she started her own eco-friendly fabric business with her new skills and guidance from her mentor.
Two years later, Tahmina supports herself and her family through her business. Her new goal is to create jobs for other young women in her community, providing opportunities that did not exist when she was growing up.
Thanks to the generous donations from the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 4 listeners, we will be able to support even more young people like Tahmina to realise their full potential and start a business that transforms their life and communities.
