Cuddling a PAT Dog has given this cancer patient something to look forward to and the confidence to face her next treatmentβ
Every day across the UK, ordinary cats and dogs do extraordinary things. Along with their owners who volunteer with Pets As Therapy, these friendly and good-natured pets visit patients in hospitals and hospices, residents in care homes, pupils in schools and students in universities β enriching lives.
We are thrilled that our ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 4 Appeal raised an amazing Β£18,945.55 (inc. Gift Aid). Thanks to the support of listeners, weβre now able to train more assessors which means the charity can recruit more volunteers and therefore bring more joy to more people.
Josette Simon OBE, our PAT Ambassador and volunteer with her cute Havanese Milo, made the Appeal on our behalf, and told listeners that we had more than 2,600 healthcare and educational establishments waiting for a therapy dog to visit. The money weβve now received will mean pets will be able to work their animal magic and cheer up people living with dementia, those feeling isolated and lonely, and individuals struggling with their mental health. School children will also get the chance to improve their reading skills.
Sometimes the best therapy is simply spending time with a dog or cat and experiencing the amazing power of the human-animal bond. Pets As Therapy wishes to thank everyone who generously donated to our charity.
