Together, over 1,000 Radio 4 listeners raised an incredible £97,297 to help protect children’s bright futures. These gifts will give families the chance to rebuild their lives after conflict, free from fear of landmines.
The response to our appeal was phenomenal and the great news is, this will be doubled by the UK Government as part of the UK Aid Match scheme.
Whenever and wherever wars happen, ordinary people shouldn’t pay the price. Every hour, someone is killed or injured by a landmine or unexploded bomb. MAG’s vision is a safe future for men, women and children affected by conflict. We destroy landmines before they destroy lives.
The incredible donations from our Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 4 Appeal will help bring peace to families who have lived in fear for far too long. They could clear over 88,000m2 of deadly landmines, an area equivalent to more than 21 football pitches.
In Iraq, this could help a family safely return home to the village they fled over two years ago. Weary from everything they’ve been through these gifts give them hope.
When I visited Iraq I saw the relief of people able to return home. These families had nothing left. Their only hope was to start again and rebuild a life for their children. Houses were being built and freshly painted, onions were sprouting in the ground, children were playing and cows were grazing. This is the real difference your support makes.
