The donations raised through our appeal are supporting further community groups and tree nurseries like those who transformed Anastacia’s life. More nursery self-help groups are bringing women together to plant trees and restore the degraded local forests.

International Tree Foundation (ITF) would like to thank all the generous Radio 4 listeners who donated to our appeal. You helped us raise over £10,214 in support of our  campaign, which is restoring native forests and improving livelihoods in Kenya by planting 20 million trees.

International Tree Foundation works with local groups across Africa to restore their environments and build sustainable livelihoods, improving thousands of lives every year.

The donations received through our Radio 4 Appeal are already being used to expand our work on Mount Kenya, and to help more women like Anastacia, whose story was told by Benjamin Zephaniah.

We told the story of Anastacia, a farmer and mother of four. Since joining a self-help group called ‘Wamiti Women’ supported by ITF, Anastacia has been earning a living selling tree seedlings. She also planted agroforestry trees on her own farm, and the fruits are improving her family nutrition and supplementing her income, and more women like Anastacia are planting trees on their own land, which will produce timber, firewood and edible fruits in the future.

With your support, ITF is building families’ resilience and reducing their reliance on forest resources.

Thank you to everyone who gave to our appeal.
