Your donations will keep more people safe from disease, give them hours back in their day and enable them to earn a better living, spend time with loved ones and transform their future. Life will be better, thanks to you".

Radio 4 listeners raised an incredible £25,569 after listening to Maya’s story. Your donations will support families who are still rebuilding their lives four years after a massive earthquake destroyed everything.

Man Maya Tamang lives with her sister and two children in the tiny village of Batasaydanda, around 20km from Kathmandu in Nepal. Her husband died some years ago and she’s managed alone since then. Batasaydanda sits about 2000m above sea level and is home to just a handful of families. Every house in the village was destroyed when the earthquake struck, lives were shattered and livelihoods crushed.

Today, four years on, Man Maya Tamang and her neighbours are still living in temporary accommodation whilst they wait for the support they need to rebuild their homes. They earn a meagre wage from agricultural work.

Every morning, Man Maya makes the 4km round trip to the nearest water source. She goes early so she can fit in a full day’s work but still she stands in line with dozens of others from neighbouring villages, waiting her turn.  After work, she picks grass to give to her goats.

Thanks to your support, we can expand our work to other villages including Batasaydanda, providing safe, clean drinking water, sanitation and good hygiene to Man Tamang and her neighbours.
