We want to ensure that families have the chance to spend some time together, just having fun”
Radio 4 listeners generously donated £7582 to Family Action’s August appeal. These funds will help us provide a listening ear and somewhere to turn for families across the country that need support to manage the challenges of family life. From families in poverty, to those living with mental health issues, or caring for their child with a learning disability, the support of Radio 4 listeners will help families to manage the challenges they face and build a brighter future.
For Sandra, severe domestic abuse left her in intensive care. After leaving hospital, despite being relocated to a refuge with her three children, she was left traumatised by her experiences. Struggling to cope and unable to see a way forward, she was put in touch with Jenny, a support worker. Jenny began visiting Sandra and her children, providing emotional support to help her move past the trauma she had faced, but also practical support such as help with childcare. As Sandra started to feel more able to move forward, Jenny supported her to find a new home, and accessed our grants programme to help buy furniture for her and the children.
Thanks to the support of generous Radio 4 listeners, many more families just like Sandra and her children are now able to look forward to a safer, brighter future together.
