Martin Kemp's Lifeline Appeal for Living Paintings.
I had no idea such a charity or such books existed before I saw the appeal and it really moved me. My dad had MS and his eyesight was extremely poor but he loved books on tape, so I know a little of what a difference it makes having access to books through different mediums.

Thanks to the incredible support of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Lifeline Appeal and the hundreds of viewers who chose to donate to our charity, Living Paintings raised £37,190. This excellent sum is already having a transformative impact on the lives of blind and partially sighted children and adults across the UK.
The cascade of positive feedback we have received since the appeal in July 2018 includes:
We wanted to let you know what richness and joy you have brought to the life of our daughter through these books and audio recordings. Life is so much more fun when you feel included in the thrill of reading.
Alison – parent of child library member
Living Paintings brings so much pleasure and joy to my life and even at 80 I am still eager to learn new things. I simply savor the books.
Jennifer – adult library member
As well as supporting our Touch to See library, from which books with special raised tactile images, accompanied by immersive audio recordings are loaned to our 15,000 beneficiaries completely free, the Lifeline appeal has also supported our national network of 343 Touch to See Book Clubs. The Book Clubs are vital to bring together blind and partially sighted adults, particularly the elderly who are the most vulnerable and isolated. The Book Clubs are a genuine lifeline for these beneficiaries.
We are thrilled that through this successful fundraising appeal we have further extended our library membership and our number of regular volunteers. We are overwhelmed by the messages coming through by post and online in support of our work, which has resonated with so many people. Thanks to the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Lifeline appeal, we have raised awareness about the needs of blind and partially sighted people.
