Living Paintings has had such a hugely positive impact on my life, from the first time I received a book at the age of 4 and found out what Thomas the Tank Engine looks like (until then I had no idea what a train with a face could possibly mean), to helping me learn to read and express myself. I wouldnβt be who I am today without this wonderful charity.β
Living Paintings was excited to be chosen for a ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ Lifeline appeal in May 2022. The charity’s purpose is to improve the quality of life for blind and partially sighted people, working to end the social and educational isolation and exclusion that they suffer every day.
At Living Paintings we publish unique Touch to See books that enable an understanding of the visual images that colour and inform all our lives. In this way we not only provide access to images that help children learn to read, support students in schools and inspire interests that enable lifelong learning for adults, but we also encourage interaction between blind people and the sighted people around them, breaking down the barriers that create social exclusion.
The amazing £29,327 raised will be used to create more wonderful books for our library and increase the number of blind and partially sighted people we reach.
