Mentoring has been a life changing experience for Alex. His mentor was open and honest and so positive about the future that it helped Alex picture all his life could be.β
Every four hours someone in the UK is permanently paralysed. For over 30 years, Back Up have helped people and their families to rebuild their independence after a devastating spinal cord injury. We are also the only charity in the UK to provide dedicated services for young people with a spinal cord injury. Spinal cord injury changes your life in an instant and the impact can seem catastrophic. It affects every area of your life from bladder, bowel, and sexual function to career and relationships. Back Up are here for people in their darkest hours, so they get back up to living life to the full
"I can honestly say it was Back Up that gave me the confidence to challenge what I thought I could do physically and discover a whole new dimension to life." Rosamund (63), Multi Activity participant
Back Up were delighted to be selected as a ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ Lifeline Appeal beneficiary charity. The appeal helped raise an incredible £24,000 and allowed us to reach a whole new audience. The money raised from this appeal will enable us to continue to transform the lives of those affected by spinal cord injury through our range of services. These include wheelchair skills training, mentoring and support for people with a spinal cord injury and family members, telephone support and digital services, such as online forums and activity courses for all ages within the UK and abroad.
Special thanks to Bonnie Langford for presenting our appeal and a huge thank you to everyone who watched it and donated. Please visit our website , for more information.
