Make your own ring toss game

Who would've thought that with just a few recycled bottles, paper plates and paint you could create a super fun game to play this summer with your friends.

You will need
  • Scissors
  • 12 cardboard plates, or 12 per person if you have lots to spare
  • Poster paints
  • Double sided tape
  • 4 or more empty bottles

How to make your ring toss game?

🚨 Be careful when using sharp objects, get a grown-up to help you 🚨

  • First, we need to make our hoops. Softly fold the paper plates in half to make a semi-circle. Cut round the inner circle of the plate to make your ring. (Get a grown-up to help you when using sharp objects)

  • Repeat this for the rest of the plates. You can either make three hoops using 12 plates and share them with the other players, or use 12 plates per team, so that's 24 for two teams, 36 for three teams, 48 for four teams, etc...

  • We have used three plates per hoop to add weight and make the hoops fly better. Use glue or double sided tape to stick your plates together.

  • Top tip: If your paper rings are still too light try attaching some paperclips.

  • When your hoops are ready paint them and leave until they are dry to touch.

  • Grab your empty bottles and make sure they are clean and the labels have been taken off. We used large 2 litre bottles, but smaller bottles will also work.

  • Fill your bottles with water and add coloured paint to make them look bright and cheerful. Make sure the the lids are screwed on tight and give the bottles a good shake so the paint is mixed well into the water.

  • To customise your bottles you could add biodegradable glitter or paint them with different score numbers. Adding scores will make your game more interesting and you can keep a record the of the winning player.

  • You're all done! Time to play with your friends and family and enjoy. 💙
