How to make chakalaka

Step one: Prepare your veg

Grab a grown-up to help you peel, chop and grate your veggies. Carefully heat some oil in a large pan over medium heat.

Step two: Fry it up

Add your chopped onion to the oil and fry for two minutes. Add in your vegetables and spices, make sure to stir well and fry for three minutes until they are soft.

Step three: Let it cook

When the vegetables and spices have cooked for a few minutes add tomatoes and baked beans, stir well and season with salt and pepper. Leave to cook for five to ten minutes on a low heat.

Step four: Time to enjoy

You're chakalaka is now ready to enjoy, but how will you serve yours? You could choose rice, or perhaps you might like it with bread, or maybe a jacket potato like Nandi.
