What is a privacy notice?
A Privacy Notice tells you what personal data the 鶹Լ and 鶹Լ Studios collects about you, how we use it and your legal rights.Personal datameans any information that can be used to identify you, such as your name, address or picture. This privacy notice is designed to be read by children and young people, but you might want to read it with your parent or guardian.

Why are we doing this and how can you take part?
The 鶹Լ and 鶹Լ Studios are giving you the chance to be awarded a Blue Peter badge!
We’ll also give you a Blue Peter Badge Card as you’ll need this along with your badge, to get free entry into loads of attractions across the UK.
Along with our original Blue Peter badges, you can also apply for ‘Silver’, ‘Gold’, ‘Green’, ‘Purple Fan’, ‘Sport’, ‘Music’ and ‘Book’ badges.
Depending on the kind of badge you apply for, we will ask you to send in different things. For example, for a ‘Green’ Blue Peter badge we’ll ask you to send in something to do with the environment.
You can apply for a Blue Peter badge from our website, or by writing toBlue Peter, MediaCityUK, Salford, M50 2BH.
We might feature something you’ve sent us on an episode of Blue Peter, or even invite you to appear on TV!
If you appear on an episode of Blue Peter it will be available online and/or on demand. Your appearance could be used again in a future broadcast.
Why do we collect and how do we use your personal data? įį
We will only collect your personal data when we need it to help us do our job or to follow the law. The 鶹Լ and 鶹Լ Studios will collect and process the personal data for the purposes of selecting and awarding Blue Peter badges and Blue Peter Badge cards.
You must be between 5 – 15 years old to apply for a Blue Peter Badge.

The 鶹Լ and 鶹Լ Studios will collect and process the following personal data about you:
Name
Age
Date of birth
鶹Լ address
Depending on the type of Blue Peter badge you apply for, the 鶹Լ may also collect:
Something written which explains why you should get a Blue Peter badge
Answers to questions we might have
A photo or video
A drawing, story, or another thing you’ve created
Please do not include other people in your photos or videos.
Your parent/guardian’s personal data
We will also collect some of your parent/guardian’s personal data so we can get in touch with them if we need to:
Name
Email address
Phone number
Who looks after your personal data?
The鶹Լ(as the “Commissioner” of Blue Peter) and鶹Լ Studios(as the “Producer” of Blue Peter) are together “data controllers” of your personal data This means that both the 鶹Լ and 鶹Լ Studios decide what your personal data is used for. The 鶹Լ and 鶹Լ Studios are responsible for complying with data protection law. The rules we have to follow when we collect your personaldata
The rule the 鶹Լ follows when using your personal data is theperformance of its public task. The 鶹Լ’s role is to act in the public interest and to serve all audiences with content which informs, educates, and entertains.
The rule 鶹Լ Studios uses is itslegitimate interestin helping the 鶹Լ make Blue Peter and to help send out Blue Peter badges.
Will your personal data be shared? į
When we have to share your information with other people, we will only share it so we can do our job or when the law says that we have to. When your personal data is shared with someone else, they must keep it safe and only use it in a way that the 鶹Լ and 鶹Լ Studios tells them they can use it. į
How long will we keep your personal data? į
If you use our website to apply for a Blue Peter badge, we will keep a copy of the application for twelve (12) months. If you apply by post we will keep your application for twelve (12) weeks.
