Premiered on our Student Tour as part of in his 20 min DJ set before Example in Hatfield, Flux Pavillion's collaboration with Doctor P gets official with tonight's Hottest Record stamp. 'Superbad' sounds like it was made; easy fun and completely unpretentious.

The talk doesn't get much louder for anyone right now than it does for Lana Del Rey. This modern day Noir-Americana is all David Lynch and RZA rare grooves making it one of the freshest sound in some time. Tonight's Hottest Record only adds to that equation by embellishing the distant feel of the original, but with subtle club twists courtesy of Joy Orbison.

Fresh from Enter Shikari's triumphant recording sessions in Thailand, forthcoming touring buddies, Young Guns, have also spent some time making their new album out there aswell. The result judging by tonight's Hottest Record, 'Learn My Lesson', will be more of the same but bigger, braver and bolder.

Whatever Major Lazer has become over the course of the last few years can be condensed into tonight's Hottest Record. It's brash, fun, nasty and superbly produced club music that doesn't conform to anything in particular in it's 4mins and 13 seconds. And from what Diplo told us today, the album looks set to do more of the same. Expect collaborations with Vampire Weekend, Sean Paul, Bruno Mars, and just about everybody else you can think of. This album could be the one.

After much much much much much waiting in anticipation, Jay Electronica returns with tonight's Hottest Record Call of Duty MW 3 featuring Mobb Deep. This is straight up New York hip-hop in every sense. Tough, smart, and very real.

Premiered by Tongy last Friday night, this, more than standard remix of Digitalism - Circles, has enough weight for the 'Hottest Record' tonight.

With massive shows at New York's Madison Square Garden and Milton Keynes Bowl in the diary, you'd expect Swedish House Mafia to release another stadium ready anthem. But tonights Hottest Record, a collaboaration with Knife Party proves again that the swedes aren't as formulaic as critics suggest. This one is tough.

More of the same but bigger and better is often seen as too moderate a step forward for an artist, but in the case of Band of Skulls where the ingredients are simple but delicious we'll take it. And expect a lot of touring from these grafters. That's what they do.

The plot seems to be unfolding scene by scene on The Bullitts album - They Die By Dawn. And this latest shows a less moody and more brash side to this advanced concept. Where it fits in the overall saga remains to be seen, but curiosity remains high.

Tonight's Hottest Record is the hybrid we've all been waiting for, where a punk-rock band gets the sub-base work-out without necessarily sacrificing their identity. At the risk of offfending the artist, The King Blues sound fantastic in this arena. Perhaps a little more could be mined from it in the future.
