Rules To Don't Stop from 3rd album 'Barbara' features Andy Burrows, formerly of Razorlight on drums and is a great start to a new era. And The Big Pink remix album tune Tonight and turn it into a potential hit single. Check them both out.

Very few bands deliver such weighty riffs with the same emotional conviction and sensitivity as Deftones. It's this fragile combination that makes them so dear to their fans. Who will all know it's been tough for all concerned since bassist Chi was involved in a serious car accident. Something which he is still recovering from today. Taking steps forward with a new album, 'Diamond Eyes', anticipation is high and 'Rocket Eyes' does not disappoint. Check it out.

Massive Audio Bully's refix of the new tune 'Only Man' on the blog. Taking metal into the club, it's a banger that may never see the light of day official, but will stand up round these parts for years to come. Huge.

It's full circle in tonight's Hottest Record world. Original touring partners, Cypress Hill and Rage Against The Machine re-team in part for the brand new Cypress single 'Rise Up'. No surprises then, that it feels a little nostalgic, but is ultimately as authentic as anything Cypress has done before. This does exactly what you'd expect, but won't challenge their back catalogue for classic status. Leave a comment

So good we had to play it twice! BFMV's new song 'Begging For Mercy' stays true to thier roots and fans will be that much happier for it. Whilst many of thier piers soften thier edges BFMV are proper metal but also get the idea of a big hook. It's a winning combination that's helped them sell over 2 million records worldwide, good to have them back !

New b side already. Muse continue to bless the fans with new music despite being locked in to a pretty full on tour schedule. Covering Mega City Four on the song 'Prague'. Slow and heavy. Almost grunge. There. I said it.

Last minute Hottest Record tonight. Professor Green has been building up to this moment for a while now.
His false start with The Beats label only strengthening the resolve and several years later, we get a proper pop single complete with INXS sample and catchy hook. By all accounts, this isn't even the big one. Get used to the name.

After a flurry of activity in 2009 that peaked with his incredible crop circle stunt and brilliant live show at Glastonbury, Mike Skinner aka The Streets, has been keeping a low profile of late. Now he's back with some freewheeling lyrics and added bassline to this stone cold club classic. I wonder if Major Lazer knew that this DJ dubplate would end up being a fan favourite from the debut album. Now it's a single. Watch it fly.

Nice to have something brand new from Futureheads and their new album, 'The Chaos'. Works in nice with our In New Music We Trust Festi up in Newcastle.
We have the Heads and The Courteeners plus another act to be announced tomorrow night. Thursday March 4 from 7pm with other shows taking it thru the weekend. Anyway, this is the most exciting Futureheads record for a few years. All jagged pop and dancefloor energy. Textbook.

It's a nice tradition. That of covering each other's songs and giving them an equal billing on akat double A-side single. Friendly Fires and Holy Ghost have done just that. And tonight's hottest record is the side belonging to Friendly Fires and their inspired disco re-vamp of 'Hold On'. More artists should share each others back catalogue. I think anyway. That's enough thinking.

A nice surprise in the form of a special VIP dub plate from the Breakbeat Kaos crew. Adam F & Fresh update a rap classic, Dead Prez' legendary hip hop. Arguebly a cornerstone in dubstep movement, It makes sense that they've subbed it out. Hold tight. This one's a stinker.

Perfect pop music. That's what they strive for and they are getting pretty close. The Drums deliver their third slice ahead of their yet untitled debut album. It's called 'Best Friend' and it hums along in perfect harmony. I have high hope for this band. We need a solid bridge between pop and indie at the minute. And these guys could be the purveyours of Indop. Or Pindie. Either one sux. Laters.

What began as potentially an acoustic solo album, has inevitably developed into something more grandiose. We're talking about the debut solo album from Sigur Ros, Jonsi. First Single 'Go Do' is fun and adventurous but still the sound of someone who knows how to reach that emotional depth. That's why people like Sigur Ros, that's people Jonsi. Leave a comment
