Surely of more importance is the Minister's response. She argues that Irish medium pupils should have the same rights as English language pupils. But surely what we see is positive discrimination for Irish medium pupils - Irish medium schools are advantaged over others. That this is taking place is a fact. That it is doing so is a result of the political demands of Sinn Fein and is part of the deal for power-sharing. In the past advantages were given to integrated schools over other schools and that was also a political choice. So denial of the fact of positive discrimination is futile. The DUP will have to put up with this fact which of course would not have arisen if education had been one of their Ministerial choices.
