I'm the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's media correspondent and this is my brief selection of what's going on.

The says that the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Office abandoned plans for an independent inquiry into the News of the World phone-hacking scandal after a senior official warned that the Metropolitan Police would "deeply resent" any interference in their investigation. It says Alan Johnson "came close to accusing Scotland Yard of having misled him over the scandal" yesterday when, as the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ reported, MPs debated the issue in a heated session at Westminster
