Diet Another Day

Every single Monday morning I wake up and say ΅°today I΅―m going on a diet!΅± At breakfast time motivation is high ¨C porridge with skimmed milk, a sprinkling of healthy blueberries, two big glasses of water. By lunch things are still well on track with a sandwich of wholemeal bread ¨C hold the mayo ¨C and a fruit salad. I΅―ve just made my dinner and I think this says everything about my willpower as the day wears on.

I made some very tasty curried parsnip soup last night and so I heated up the rest of that and had it with some freshly baked wheaten. ΅°That΅―s not bad΅± I hear you say, but just hold on. I then decided the soup would be significantly improved by a thick swirl of double cream and I swear to you that wheaten was literally begging me to butter it. Not great, but still not a true binge. Just wait, I΅―m getting to that bit. Imagine the scene in the kitchen΅. ΅°mmm΅. nice enough, but I΅―m still a bit hungry΅..it΅―s very cold outside΅.I need a little comfort food΅...and I΅―ve had the cream and the butter now so I may as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb and I can always start my diet again tomorrow.΅± Yes, the devil of overindulgence, the daemon of immoderation, the anti-diet himself was sitting right there on my shoulder and there was nothing I could do to shake him off.

Gillian McKeith and those of a nervous disposition should now look away. I have just polished off four pork and leek sausages (fried of course), a large plate of champ dripping with butter, rhubarb crumble with luxury custard and extra thick Channel Island cream (cue v/o ¨C ΅°It΅―s not just food΅΅±) and when I have finished this confession of a foodaholic I have some mini-eggs to finish off as well. Of course I feel guilty and out of control, but I blame the weather, and thank goodness the current cold spell means I still have a little time to lose those excess pounds before I have to shed the winter woollies΅.I can diet again tomorrow, and as Scarlet O΅―Hara famously said ΅°tomorrow is another day.΅± So pass the chocolate bunnies!!!

I have been on a diet of milkshakes and coffee for breakfast and lunch. For supper, I would eat to my heart's content but of limited quantity. There are times that I would go off the diet but it has worked. It has to since I am allergic to most foods.
