Wednesday's prospects

Robert Morgan is Wednesday's programme producer. Here is his early email to the Newsnight team.

Good morning,

Labour donor
Gordon BrownLots around today. The donor story gets bigger and bigger with more new questions needing answering.

IRA violence
Liz Mackean has a strong film on increasing paramilitary violence in Northern Ireland. The story centres on the murder last month of Paul Quinn in Armagh. Both his family and the Independent Monitoring Commission point the finger at the IRA but politicians on all sides reject the claims.

What else?
Other stories could include Pakistan, the state of the World economy and Kosovo. Any light stories out there for a discussion?

What do you think we should cover?

JP should have made more of the Abrahams telephone interview last night. Although it was last minute the relevations are massively significant and an over-run was certainly justified. The interview was too short and the killer questions were not asked.

The leading players like Baroness Jay need to be on the programme. There is no bigger story than this

how can we free our political process from huge donations from people who are 'Friends of... 'another Foreign State'?

If you take money from those promoting a foreign state how can you be trusted to put the uk national interest first?

Suppose the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ was being funded by 'Friends of ITV'? It just doesn't make sense to have that kind of arrangement?

Poor old Gordon Brown it won't be long until he needs the para medics on stand-by 24/7 ..that tic those shaky hands..poor wee soul.

Very thought provoking stuff last night,it pays off not to feed Jeremy for a few days - even Martin Bell must have suffered from insomnia following the "left hook" delivered promptly from Jeremy,in reply to Bell's weak attempt to be witty.

The white suited man turned up at 6.45am Sky News reviewing the papers and wearing I am sure the same attire.

Please address Kosovo. Britain led the original campaign to stop Serb discrimination, violence and ethnic cleansing in Kosovo. UK troops are still there. Will the UK support a declaration of independence by Kosovo leaders, given the collapse of the current final status talks? As a member of the EU and UN Security Council, what can Britain do to overcome Russia's blockade against a resolution at the UN that may pave the way for a future for Kosovo? Will the EU unite or divide on this issue?
