Perhaps how we deal with defeat? the way we approach things as a nation, as individuals? The way we seem to need to find people to blame for something these days rather than just getting on with it and working to overcome the problem?

For example re England last night, we are not made differently from other people, the state of the team might be a useful indicator of the situation in the UK, our determination, our commitment to sport and football, so perhaps it’s an opportunity to improve these things?

Some sort of Mr or Mrs Fix it isn’t perhaps what we should be looking for?

Just kidding now, but if you wanted to become a team of world beaters we could introduce a quota system with a difference, ie 8 members of Premier league teams need to be ………UK citizens…see where I’m coming from,

But seriously if you want to reduce the influx the influx of players from overseas, damp down the wage levels? Do other countries have a similar problem? Or are there reasons they do not, is this lower wages?

One way to put pressure on clubs to reduce wage rates might be to put restrictions on the amount they can earn etc from TV rights (would Europe allow that…………? Huh)

And the FA could play a leading role in doing this?

By the way isn’t there an irony when people are ‘blaming’ yeh that common British habit

Overseas players for the way ---------------our side----------------- played last night, think about it, it’s unbelievable really, but then say the answer to the problem we have to some is the appointment of an overseas manager?

Sorry if sounds a little harsh and judgemental, not meant to be, but we might help ourselves if we started to look at things and approach problems in a more problem solving and creative way, and stop all this corrosive culture of blame which seems to permeate every story we now hear on the News,?

Where has all this seeped in from? Did it for example start to grip our nation across the throat when we allowed the ‘if you can find someone to blame you can make a claim’ be imported from…………………overseas (!!)?

Here's the thing: no sane person gives a shit about football. It's a game. If you allow your emotions to be engaged by the progress and outcome of any game, then you are emotionally immature.
In case you're thinking about gainsaying this, think about growing up instead.

We need to cover the things that people care about and last night's result was a a new low in English football and a travesty.

I'm just getting over my hangover and considering whether to go out again tonight. The news has got to be written so here goes with a number of short sharp thoughts about what seems to be going on in the UK. Looking through my new book of cliches and phrases of the zeitgeist I got from that media fair last week it shouldn't take long. A few reactionary comments pieced together to fit in with the lobbyist of the moment and appear intellectual is all I need.

Lately though I've been considering giving up the alcohol, as it only gives me a headache and a feeling of fitting in with the broken Britain of our headlines. Rather than the reactionary tosh I could write something inciteful in a way that produced a compelling argument. It could change my life, the life of others and possibly even the country. How many people could I infect with my new found enthusiasm. People motivated to find solutions to problems and indeed perhaps the will to ensure that the correct thing is done the first time. I could start researching now, finding the root causes to the problems, where to begin with the solutions and actions that need to be taken. My reports will be based on all the facts instead of a baised thought of someone else.
