Dear Newsnight Review
I have been a long-time follower of this strand way back to its previous incarnation as a nightly arts slot. But it is becoming increasingly impossible to watch because of the poor chairing of the discussion - please stop your reviewers speaking over each other. It may be a good enjoyably heated debate for them as they vie with each other to get their point across but it is excruciating and rather pointless for the audience. I'm on the verge of giving up watching. Content is great but allowing those who can shout loudest to dominate is a failure of the chair. Thank you.

The criticism of Heroes by half of the panel has a whiff of ignorance/close-mindedness to it.

The premise of most comic books are far off fictional scientific theory which tries to relate to reality somewhat. It's not meant to make sense as we know it, it's in it's own world and there's where it'll remain - we just look inside, sit back and get entertained. What's wrong with that?

Sometimes people try and dig too deep into programmes that are made. It's entertainment, get off your high rigid stool and take in a bit of perspective.

Interesting performance at the end. Pachelbel has a lot to answer for. I hope they scrape at least a C in their GCSE.

Another good show, although weaker than last week's, I thought. I agree about the chairing, it's a nightmare when people just talk over each other.

I also thought there was a bit of snootiness about Heroes, having more excellent intelligent young pannellists like Churchwell and Hari and Harris should deal with this.

But all in all, pretty good.

There seemed to be male/female split on liking or not liking Heroes. A bit of a generalization I know but maybe it's more suited for boys, they like all that superhero stuff.

I too would like to know who the performers at the end were, again bad 'chair' for a mumbled introduction. I like her interview with Peter Doherty she is much better on the one-to-one. Bring back Mark Lawson!

When you were discussing Hot Fuzz you missed out one of the main contributors to the film (as well as to Shaun of the Dead) Edgar Wright is one of the key writers along with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (who you obviously did mention). The only difference is he doesn't act in any of the films. Also none of the panel seemed to be aware that the team behind Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz have been together since the early nineties with the cult TV series 'Spaced' which was very popular with young people at the time and is where most of the cinematic references, humour and satire that you see in these two films originated. Not the best researched review I've seen I'm afraid....

I wish to find out what the orchestral piece of music was used during the feature on the Gilbert and George exhibition. I would be most grateful to find out.

The orchestral music used during the Gilbert & George item was by Philip Glass. I'm not sure of the piece - it's either his Violin Concerto or from the soundtrack to Naqoyqatsi.

WHY? do there seem to be so many progrmmas or films out like,Hero
america does enough in the propaganda war whats the point in another one.
