Snake v Alligator

13 ft python v 6ft alligator - who would win? Python swallows Alligator. Alligator makes Python's stomach burst. So no winners - only losers. Here's the picture. Yuck.

On "Life in Cold Blood" the other night it showed a python swallow a whole Antelope, so this is very possible. It did split it's sides (not like the above, just looked like bad cuts) but Sir David Attenborough said thuis happens and it will repair! Remind me never to go to the amazon....

It is definately true. I saw it on the telly one night. there was a crack team of scientists trying to explain it. they think that the python ate the alligator after it was already dead and decomposing and it started to swell in its stomache with all the nasty dead gasses and... boom!

Bet David Attenbrough would have loved this for his series. He showed Pythons eating antelopes, crabs and lobsters and then they regurgated what isnt stomached. Was Amazing and grusum at the same time.. What a crazy animal.

I have read about this a while back. This was a snake that managed to attack and eat a alligator but once the snake had eaten the alligator it was set up on by another alligator, the snake had just had a big catch it was not able to avoid being attacked and killed. Fortunately some people turned up hence why this has been seen and the photo was taken.

    unfortunatley this is very true,

due to the large amount of people in the us buying baby Burmese python's as pet then dumping them into the wild when they get too big to look after, male's will reach 14-16 feet in lenght where as females will reach 18-20 feet.
the everglade's are over run by these snakes that do not come from the said country.

curenntley the us fish and wildlife service are try to put a Ban on movement's of Boa's and Python's from state to state and even import and export of these animal's.

being a reptile keeper and breeder for 20 year's myself i have seen this many times with,
as a respectable reptile keeper it is my/our job to premote good help and advice when people consider buying a snake that will reach these sort of sizes.

    Hi Jo,

Just got back from a trip to Scotland and just had to look at the python picture.

Just to put the record straight, a snake will eat it's prey head first so the head is not missing just out of shot to the right. What you are looking at, at the top of the shot, is the damaged tail of the snake.

Thanks for the show it makes a long journey shorter.

    Regards Brian.

The Full Proper Event's Goes As Follow's :

The burmese python ate the croc,
but due to the fact that croc's can hold there breath and stay motionless for a long time has lead to beleave that the croc then moved or moved under involantary reflex and this is why the snake ripped into 2.

the head of the snake is actually missing in this picture of a larger size, this is thought to have been eatern by another predator ( croc or otherwise )
