Can they deliver on their promise?
In a speech at his party's spring conference, leader David Cameron said he has "got what it takes to turn this country around". dealing with the deficit; boosting enterprise; shoring up families; backing the NHS; raising standards in schools; and cleaning up politics.
But, after Mr Cameron acknowledged his party faced a "real fight". Labour said voters would find the speech "wanting" for substance.

What next for the proposals?

Mr Obama wants to expand healthcare coverage to include millions of uninsured Americans, but Republicans say that the country cannot afford the plans and they want him to start again from scratch.

Broadcasting union Bectu and the National Union of Journalists fear up to 600 jobs could be lost after it was announced that the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ website would be scaled back, and 6 Music and Asian Network faced closure.
Mr Thompson says compulsory redundancy would be kept to a minimum. The plans are to go through public consultation.

A warns that children are increasingly exposed to material that their parents don't know about, and calls for tougher regulation of sexual imagery.
Games consoles and mobiles should be barred from accessing adult material to limit children's exposure to sexual imagery.

After the talks, India's Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao said that it has taken a "first step" towards rebuilding trust with Pakistan and that the two sides had agreed to remain in touch.
Although no major breakthrough was expected, correspondents say this meeting could eventually pave the way for the resumption of the formal peace process broken off after the 2008 Mumbai attacks in which 174 people were killed, nine of them gunmen.

The Β£4.5bn strategy was the backbone of Labour's school reforms in England. But teachers' unions have complained of too much government meddling during implementation - a claim which is backed up by a new report.
Ofsted says schools have suffered because of the "frequent introduction of initiatives, materials and guidance" which led to "overload" and diminished the effectiveness of each initiative. The government said it was not sorry for focusing on the Three Rs.
