I would greatly prefer that the links takes you directly to the content rather than popping up in the page. In sites that already do in text linking that I visit using them does not stop me reading the article in a fragmented way. I simply open the link in a second window/tab to read after finishing with the article.

It does not - Is Flash available to every platform that Safari and Firefox can run on? No.
This is the whole reason people complain about the iPlayer because itβs developed in such a way it cannot be solely supported by the browser alone (and therefore potentially on all platforms).

But - what have you done to the mobile coverage. It seems to have been stopped and I can't watch the live stream on my phone. It was great last week, now it seems to not be working.
