The Turkish Grand Prix is only in its fifth year so it does not offer quite as rich pickings for our classic races series but there have still been some interesting races to pick from in the event's short history.

We had an overwhelming response to the edition of our classic grand prix series - and that's both gratifying for us and hardly surprising given the quality of the events on offer.

The race has , so it was not easy to pick out only five classic Monaco Grands Prix. And the list we came up with caused a fair bit of heated debate.

It was not so much the races we did pick - , , , and certainly all fit the bill as classic events in the Principality - as the ones we did not.

And some of you were particularly forceful when it came to expressing your point of view.

What a treat we have coming up with the Monaco edition of our classic Formula 1 races series.

With a history that dates back to , there is almost an embarrassment of riches to choose from when it comes to picking great races from Monaco's history.

Monaco might be notorious for being a track where it is virtually impossible to overtake, and there is no doubt that it is an anachronism in the 21st century, but that does nothing to detract from its position as the jewel in F1's crown.

It creates a - and if there is a more compelling, thrilling and dramatic sight than then I'd like to know what it is.

Anyway, it was not easy, but we have chosen five races that we think give a decent cross-section of the best of the Monaco Grand Prix.

Ferrari's over plans for and two-tier championship in 2010 will appear shocking to many - that, after all, is the idea. To those more familiar with the sport's intricate politics, though, the biggest surprise may well be that it took them so long to say it.

F1's history is littered with examples of if they did not get their way over some rules row or other. In the late '80s, in one of the most notorious, they went as far as building their own IndyCar to underline their point. Yet they remain the only team to have competed every year since the start of the F1 world championship in 1950.

That is why few people within F1 will think there is any realistic chance.

We have chosen to show extended highlights for two races for the Spain entry in our classic Formula 1 races series.

Of the five events we picked - 1981, 1986, 1991, 1996 and 1997 - two grands prix stood out in your responses to this blog - and they were 1981 and '86.

This is no surprise. The 1981 event was one of the greatest performances by one of the greatest drivers F1 has ever seen, and 1986 saw a classic duel to the flag between two more.

In 1981, the late Gilles Villeneuve drove a race of cool precision to keep his truck-like, but powerful Ferrari ahead of four faster cars for virtually the entire afternoon.

In 1986, Ayrton Senna held off a late charge by Nigel Mansell, eventually winning by just 0.014secs.

I make it a dead heat between the two in terms of your responses to my blog last week asking for the race you would choose.
