<p>Today, Director, Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ News and Current Affairs, James Harding, talked to
Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ staff about future plans for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ News. The speech was given at New
Broadcasting House in central London and also broadcast live to Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ staff across the UK via the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's internal TV service, the 'Ringmain'.</p>
<p>He explained
why he thinks Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ News is 'seriously good', announced a number a plans for the news division 'broadening
the range of stories and voices on the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ', making a service that is, 'flexible,
effective and faster on its feet.'Β Plans announced also included the appointment of a daily news agenda editorΒ on-air editors dedicated to helath and education . </p>

to answer questions from staff.</p>

<p>Earlier on today, Director-General Tony Hall shared his
vision for a future Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ in a speech given to staff and journalists in the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ
Radio Theatre in London. The speech was broadcast live on the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's staff TV
network - the 'Ringmain'. </p>
<p>During the speech Tony made a number of announcements which
formed part of his future strategy for the organisation including the launch of
<a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnews/2013/dg-bbcone-plus1.html">Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ One + 1</a>, <a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnews/2013/dg-playlister.html">Playlister</a>, the <a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnews/2013/dg-iplayer.html">next generation iPlayer</a> and a new way for
audiences to <a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnews/2013/bbc-radio-open-minds.html">access speech content from across the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's radio networks</a>. There
were additional announcements made about<a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnews/2013/radio-1-channel.html"> Radio 1 on iPlayer</a> and a new<a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnews/2013/dg-arts-programming.html">
investment in arts TV programming</a>.</p>
