How Jewish people show care

  • It is common for Jewish people to put money in a tzedakah, a box for collecting money for charity and special causes.

  • A tzedakah box is kept at home or at the synagogue, a Jewish place of worship.

  • The synagogue is a place where people can come together for worship and events.

  • Some Jewish people take part in tikkun olam, which means ‘repair the world’. They do this to help people and the environment.

  • Tikkun olam can be done in different ways, for example by planting trees. Jewish people also plant trees during the festival Tu B’Shevat - the New Year for Trees.
