Long ladder letters are known for their straight lines.

Some are simple, with just a single line straight down like ‘l’.

Whereas others follow more complicated patterns, such as ‘t’. They still start the same, straight down before the pencil leaves the page, then comes back over to cross the ‘t’.

There are those that even head back up for a second line, joined by a curve underneath like ‘u’ and ‘y’.

The exceptions are ‘i' and ‘j’, which always leaves an extra dot behind.

One armed robot letters always start by coming straight down. Like the ‘r’ here. Then they go up and over.

Other robot letters like ‘n’ use a similar technique. And ‘m’. Down, up, curve repeat is the easiest way to make these letters seem less alien.

‘b’ and ‘h’ stand tall above the other line dwellers. But the curve still comes in the same place.

Watch out though. Some of the longer letters might start above the line. Then surprise you with a dangler, like ‘p’.

There always has to be one however, that breaks the rules. There's no curves in ‘k’. Down, up, down.

No matter which of the one armed robot letters you choose, you've just got to follow the light.

You can spot the zig-zag letters from their zig-zag lines.

Let's look at the ‘V’ here. That down up movement makes the zig-zag.

‘W’ is the same, only with more diagonals. Down, up, down, up.

When you're writing your zig-zag letters, just remember to keep your lines straight.

‘X’ marks the spot. There's another. And another!

That's the ‘Z’. That's them all!

The ‘V’, ‘W’, ‘X’ and ‘Z’ really are an angular extravaganza.

The wonders of the wild alphabet, come in many shapes and sizes.

Such as the curly caterpillar letters.

They start by looping from the top, before curling out the bottom.

They really are that simple.

But sometimes a curly letter has a straight line too.

Always start with the curl first.

Whether it's ‘a’, ‘q’ or ‘o’.

Despite having curls in common, there's nothing common about the curly caterpillar letters.
