Pa fis wyt ti’n cael dy ben-blwydd?Wyt ti’n gallu casglu data ar ben-blwyddi? Defnyddia grŵp o ffrindiau neu dy deulu. Gofynna ym mha fis maen nhw'n cael eu pen-blwydd a rho’r data mewn tabl neu graff syml.

Notes for parents

After watching the video, pupils will be able to:

• name the seasons and months of the year
• understand more about the months of the year
• practise and learn the words to 'The seasons song'

Activity 1

Can you learn the song and name the seasons? Try and spell the seasons in Welsh (Autumn, Winter, Spring, Summer).

Finish the sentence, "Fy hoff dymor yw…" (My favourite season is…). Can you explain why?

Can you name the months of the year and put them in the correct order?

What are your favourite things to do in each season of the year?

Activity 2

What month is your birthday?

Can you collect data on birthdays? Use a group of friends or family. Ask them which month their birthday is in and put the data in a simple table or graph.

Compare clothes from different seasons. Use actual clothes to hang on a clothes line. Make a set of summer clothes and winter clothes.

How about role playing going on holiday and packing clothes - summer and winter? Enjoy!

Activity 4

Can you discuss the weather for each season?

• Yn nhymor yr hydref, mae hi’n wyntog. (In the autumn, it is windy.)
• Yn nhymor y gaeaf, mae hi’n bwrw glaw/eira. (In the winter, it rains/snows.)
• Yn nhymor y gwanwyn mae hi’n gymylog. (In the spring, it is cloudy.)
• Yn nhymor yr haf mae hi’n heulog. (In the summer, it is sunny.)

How about practising saying the sentences out loud, then create your own song or rap about the weather and the seasons? Record yourself doing so if you like!

Activity 5

Make a season wheel on a paper plate by dividing it into quarters. Draw a picture which goes with each season.

How about being a weather presenter? Go for it!

Activity 6

Print the wordsearch to find the words in the list. If you don't have a printer, can you find the words on the screen?
