Kayla: Hey past people. Just making a quick video to say thanks for thinking about energy. Because not everyone before you did. Energy was responsible for over 70 percent of total greenhouse gases back in your day, so it was a big deal.
I read that people used to pop 10 minutes down the road in a car. I mean A, try to put more than one person in a car. Or B, if you can, use a giant car that fit loads of people AKA a bus. Or C, walk. It would take ages for us to walk to Nana's house so I'm on a tram!
Oh! I'll tell you what I heard, is this true?
I heard that cars and factories and stuff were powered by the remains of dead plants and animals from millions of years ago that you dug out of the ground. Zombie fuel! You guys called it coal, oil and gas.
Fossil fuels, but I know the truth.
So yeah, thanks for not relying on fossil fuels that damaged us as well as our planet.
And thanks to you guys finding other sources of energy, the world is now at net zero emissions! That means removing from the atmosphere the same amount of greenhouse gases that we produce.
Net zero.
One day we might remove even more and become climate positive. And this is helped by you guys choosing renewable energy like solar power, wind power and hydropower which powered this electric tram.
You guys were revolutionaries. You challenged your families to use as little energy as possible, you put an end to vampire energy that devices suck when sockets are left on you turned your games console off when you weren't playing it, you asked to turn the heating down and popped a jumper on, you turned lights off when you left the rooms, you took short showers, you- Oh, we're here.
Gotta go guys but seriously thank you. And keep doing everything you can to make energy sustainable!
